How Do I Choose a Tile Contractor?

You’ve decided to take the plunge and invest in tiling your floors and walls at home. Unless you are a very confident and very capable DIY’er, you’ll probably want to hire a professional contractor to handle the installation. Not only will a pro give you great results, they will also provide you with value-added services, such as deliveries, take-offs and warranties.  But where do you start and what should you look for in a tile contractor?

Do your homework. Word of mouth is the best advertising. If you have neighbors or relatives who have been happy with work done by a particular contractor, give them a call. Any true professional will be happy to give you their licensing and bonding credentials, provide you with a written estimate of cost and time to do the job, and be able to give you job references and/or photos of their installations.  Talk to enough contractors to give yourself the information you need to make an informed decision. Your comfort level is extremely important. The lowest bidder may not necessarily be the person you feel will do the best job for you.

If you’re not sure where to start, ask your tile dealer for help. At Mid-America Tile, we can supply you with a contractor referral list. These contractors are not employed by or affiliated with Mid-America Tile in any way. They are simply professionals that some of our customers have used with excellent results.

By taking the proper due diligence, you will find hiring the right contractor will make your tile installation project everything you had hoped for.
